History

The FORT family owns a family farm located in Joncades, in the town of Eraville, between the towns of Cognac and Angoulême.
The family estate was created in 1900 by our great grandfather Désir GUERIN: we are therefore the fifth "grower-distiller" generation.
We develop our spirits on a vineyard of 40 hectares at the heart of three towns: Eraville, Bouteville for the "grande champagne" 1st cru and châteauneuf for "petite champagne" 2nd cru: the best Cognacs with ugni blanc, St Emilion and Colombars vines.
The entire production is derived solely from this domain

Jean Fort: Producer harvester.

Cognac: The aging of our cognacs is made in oak barrels. The brandies (VS 4 years old) to more sophisticated (XO 35 years of age) contain their maturation to give us their incomparable fragrance.

THE DISTILLATION
All our cognacs are distilled in the respect of tradition with the method of double "charentais" distillation. The distillation which concentrates and intensifies the aromatic elements, takes place in winter in copper stills. The wine distilled at a low temperature gives the "brouillis" which, in turn distilled (bonne chauffe) gives a painless alcohol from which we separate the spirit from "the heart".

Pineaux

Legend of the pineau and birth of the pineau
In 1589, when Henry IV came to be on the throne of France, a charentais winemaker, during the harvest, poured inadvertently grape must in a barrel which contained cognac brandy. He then handed this barrel to the cellar of the seigneurial domain.
A few years later, during a very abundant harvest, the precious barrel became necessary. He had the surprise to discover a wonderful beverage, clear, sunny like the land of the charentes. The pineau was born.
